About TCPlayer

Overview

TCPlayer is a client/server system for controlling music playback on a windows (tcp/ip) network.

Share one set of speakers throughout your home or office network.

The Server Program

TCPlayer server screenshotThe server sits in the system tray of the PC through which you want to play the music. This program can gather tracks from up to 5 sources (on the servers hard-drive, from network shares or from CD-Roms and DVD-Roms).

The server scans these sources for mp3 and wma tracks, aggregates and sorts them, and builds the master library of available tracks. This list is served to the clients.

The program is lightweight:

  • Memory use with a 7000 track library varies between 1.5 and 3 MBytes.
  • CPU Usage during playback (on an AthlonXP 2500+) of about 1.5% (<1% with the spectrum analyzer switched off).

The Client Program

The client program is used to control the server from anywhere on the network.

  • Adjust the volume, or mute the player.
  • Switch on the shuffle and repeat modes
